Blog Move.

So I made a big, bad blog decision. I am going to move this blog, my personal blog, over to my business blog address.

Apparently, online buyers like to make a "personal connection" with handmade sellers. I can't blame them! I also update that blog way more frequently than I do this one. For once, you might actually know what we are up to!

I still may update this from time to time, but for now...set your readers to http://foldingchairdesigns.blogspot.com/.

Thanks!

Belated Halloween.

The 15 or so trick or treaters that came over were thrilled to see
a real black cat.
On a second note, I have never seen a cat love
a man's beard
the way that Bronco loves Tony's beard.

Excuse me.

Apparently personal blogging is not my calling in life.
I am sure that those of you reading this blog already know what we are up to these days.
We have been back in Mesa for two months and I swear it feels like we have been here for two weeks. I don't get it. Aside from being way too hot, it's not so bad this time around! Really though, it's a cool city. I can't/shouldn't complain at all. But seriously...come on. Alright, alright I am done.

Enjoy these terrible pictures of our house. I took them late at night, in the middle of packing for a trip to Vegas to see my Parents. Everyone should spend the night at Caesar's Palace at some point in their life. Amazing. I could have lived in the bathroom.

Back on subject...we are still unpacking as we wait to buy things like a dresser, bookshelves, paint, a laundry basket...you get the idea?

We got our matching nightstands at DI for $1.00 a piece! They
are really cool old green tv trays. Love love them.
And yes, I got suckered into the vinyl decal trend.
Sue me, I love cuckoo clocks.

Kitchen table, obviously. Mostly just showing off my favorite table cloth
and the awesome tiered stand that Rose made me.
We are in the middle of painting the kitchen robins egg blue.
It makes me (almost) enjoy doing the dishes.

What house is complete without a $7.00 lime green armchair?
No house, I tell you!

Tony is going to build a low profile bookcase for me on this wall.
Just like the one in this picture that Emily built on Design Star. All the way over on the right, there
Totally in love with Emily, by the way. But that's for another day.

Our living room. First couch ever. We are in sweet, sweet love with each other.
Excuse the lack of art on the walls, we are going to paint soon.

Meet Bronco.
He is cute. That's a terrible understatement. I am so in love with this cat.
It's embarrassing.

He truly believes that Tony's beard is a living thing. He snuggles into it
(almost) more than me.

He has great poses.

And he loves to sleep in my sewing machine.

Were there enough pictures for you?
All five of you?

Maybe my next post will be within the month.
You never know.
Aim high!

Why didn't I think of that?

I was amazed and astounded by this girls wedding dress even before I read that she designed the pattern for the bodice and crocheted every single doily herself. Wow.

We've been busy.
Nothing spectacular either.
Tony goes to school and cleans pools till about 6 every night.
I do my greeting card thing and (attempt) to fill my Etsy shop.
Sometimes I swear it's like we don't see each other
until our mandatory Friday night dates.
You can never go wrong with Powell's City of Books!
We leave for the beach this Friday night,
we'll be home Monday.
Yay!

Why is it...

that if I left my books all over the stairs...it wouldn't look nearly this lovely?

So Tell Me When You Hear My Heart Stop.

Oooh I love Lykke Li. Not only is she talented but she also has amaaazzing fashion sense AND she's stunning. Not fair.

source

I'm not usually a fan on music videos. I think they are normally dumb, sometimes they ruin the song, and I want to associate the song with my life, not the artists (I'm so selfish). BUT this video is perfect (as are all of her videos). Not only is the song beautiful and heartbreaking, but you can listen to it on repeat for three days and not get tired of it...it's a proven fact.

Listen to her album Youth Novels if you get the chance.

In the meantime, watch and enjoy this beautiful video.

Etsy.

I try not to talk about Etsy on this blog and save it for the OTHER blog but I can't help myself. I was featured in another treasury and it was so pretty that I want to share it with everyone. It is (obviously) an homage to the color yellow, which just happens to be my favorite!

It was made by Green Heath Treasures. To see the actual treasury click here. Do you see me? Second row down, all the way to the right!

Thank you, 94.7 KNRK

As I posted on Friday, Tony and I won tickets to small show for Temper Trap and The Big Pink. We went and were amazed by Temper Trap. I wasn't sure how their sound would translate to a live show, but it was flawless. If you have seen 500 Days of Summer, you have heard their hit song, Sweet Disposition.

The Big Pink was a whole different story...all we knew of them is their song, Domino's. It is a great song, like...really, really great. Well we should have done our research so that we knew that the rest of their songs are boring, depressing and just plain weird. Oh well, they ended the show with Domino's and it vastly made up for the crap they played beforehand.

Here are some pictures for your viewing pleasure...

The Big Pink

Laurelhurst Park.

This Saturday, Tony and I ventured out into NE Portland to Laurelhurst park. It was beautiful, the camelia's were in full bloom! Light pink, bright pink and winter white.

Posers

If you ignore the color of the water, it really is a spectacular park! We plan on going back there in a few weeks when more of the trees have leaves. And when it's above 50 degrees because...come on, let's get serious.

After we went to the park, we took our lives in our own hands and went to Lloyd Center Mall, we made it out unscathed!

Sunday Afternoon.

I convinced Tony to sign up for a contest with me in the hopes that we could win tickets to see The Big Pink and The Temper Trap perform here in Portland. Little did I know that he would actually WIN! Our local alternative radio station, 94.7, (which is awesome by the way) hosted the giveaway. Sooo, needless to say, I'm prettty pumped. More so than I should be, just for the fact that we haven't been to a legit show in mooonths (I just have to fight the guilt of it being on the Sabbath. Never fear, we shall be there to teach our Sunday School class regardless).

I have a niece.

Her name is Kimber and she is 4 years old (5 in April!)

She is adorable, really too cute for her own good.

As far as personalities go...her's is strong.

When we chat with our matching webcams, she shows us her Guinea Pig's butt.

Here she is in AZ with the cat and mice that Tony and I gave her for Christmas.

Photojojo

This cracks me up.

Dream.

I was lucky enough to marry a pilot. See proof of such below.
We like to visit Sedona, AZ. It is one of the most beautiful places in the the entire worrrlld to me. Red rock everywhere, artists everywhere, greenery everywhere...

To tie this all together...we have always wanted to fly into the Sedona airport, which is on a plateau of sorts. From the airport, we plan to ride our foldable bikes (which we do not yet own) down into town for lunch and a nice art walk/hike in the lovely red rock mountains.

Little did I know that my stalking of Anthropologie would lead to the fruition of this dream!

TA DA! For (only?) $998.00 bucks each, we could totally make this happen...isn't it lovely?

Little Sister

My little sister, Hannah is talented. She sings. Like a broadway star.

Her halloween choir concert (they have those?) featured soloists that were able to choose songs by singers that are now deceased. Having just done costumes and other backstage things for a Patsy Cline play, she chose Walking After Midnight.

My Mom gets major credit for embellishing a plain black button up and skirt to look Grand Ol Opry ready. Those are my Grandpa's cowboy boots on her cute feet, too.

Now watch her sing...please.

PS. The video is only fuzzy in the beginning...it clears up seconds into it.

Dia de los Muertos

I know my fascination with Dia de los Muertos is a little weird. I can't get over the contrast of colors and folky floral motifs that cover everything. Here are a couple of my favorite tributes to this morbid holiday:

Dia de los Muertos chocolate skulls from Sahagun in Portland.

Laura Marling would still be fantastic even if she didn't create this Dia de los Muertos inspired video for the song, Ghosts. You can see it here.

Summer

It has been so long since I posted last...I won't even attempt to make up since what, February? I'll just make an attempt to summarize this summer.

In June, Tony and I packed up and moved from Mesa, AZ to Portland, OR. We fit everything we own in a U-haul trailer.

We made it to Oregon just in time for Kelsey's wedding activities. We helped set up the reception site, spent the night with the wedding party in a cabin by Mt. Hood, had a really great bridal shower, recital dinner and of course...the wedding was so beautiful I felt like I was in a Jane Austen novel.

After the wedding, my friends all deserted me for awful places such as, Utah and Idaho.

We went to state fairs (including the world famous Puyallup fair!), we went to the beach, we celebrated Hannah's 17th birthday, Phillip's 15th birthday and my parents 26th wedding anniversary. So fun!

Tony and I ended August by celebrating our 2nd wedding anniversary. We went to the beach, Lincoln City, for a really long weekend.

More summarizing to come...

Need.

I know there is a difference between a want and a need. It just goes to show that I am old enough to realize that this necklace is a great big $120.00 need. Sigh.
